This asynchronous course provides a practical and accessible overview of the essential components of building and sustaining a successful nonprofit organization.
While participants complete coursework on their own schedules, weekly assignments and due dates foster a shared learning experience, encourage meaningful engagement with course content, and help build connections among participants throughout the semester.
Participants explore best practices for emerging nonprofits, including board governance, grant management, volunteer engagement, financial stewardship, strategic planning, and the development of mission, vision, and values statements. Through recorded lectures, guided activities, real-world examples, reflection exercises, and practical assignments, students gain a deeper understanding of the systems and structures that support long-term organizational success.
A key component of the course is the creation of a personalized Mission Map, which helps participants clearly articulate their organization's goals, identify intended outcomes, and communicate their impact to stakeholders, funders, and community members.
