Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT are healthcare professionals responsible for obtaining patient specimens. Laboratories, employers and hospitals have an increasing demand for phlebotomists. Each day this program introduces basic medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, components of health care delivery and clinical laboratory structure. In this course students learn how to safely and effectively draw blood using venipuncture and capillary puncture methods for adults and children, plus finger sticks or heel sticks for young children and infants. Non-blood specimen collection (urinalysis, throat swab, and buccal swabs) practices are also part of the curriculum.
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed in order to be successful in any laboratory setting. Once completing the class students will sit for the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.
