WINNING THE GRANT WRITING GAME: A four-part series on writing, researching, evaluating, and reporting grants
(1.5 CEU in Fund Development/Communication and 0.5 CEU in Organizational Planning, Management, and Evaluation)

Grant writing has rules, just like chess or backgammon. To be successful you need to learn the rules. Then you need to practice your 'game', becoming more expert with each successful proposal. And the end result will be a winning strategy!

Participants will be asked to sign up for a series of one-day classes that will cover all aspects of successful grant writing, with a focus on local foundations and corporations. The classes will review the critical process of researching funders to match funding opportunities with your nonprofits' programs and activities, as well as strategies for approaching funders. In addition, the classes will cover the essential elements of a proposal, including case and need statements, program design, evaluation, and the budget, with a particular emphasis on stewardship and reporting.

Part 1 on May 17 will cover:
  • Learn about funding trends
  • Learn about different grant types and the grant process
  • Learn about government grants, how to find them, and understanding who should and should not apply for them
