Emotional Intelligence for Fund Development Success

Class Description:
Emotional Intelligence (EI) describes a set of emotional and social skills that that collectively establish how well we: perceive and express ourselves; develop and maintain social relationships; cope with challenges; and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

This workshop will provide participants with information on how professionals engaged in fund development can leverage EI to build their own capacity for resilience and create successful, engaging relationships with donors.

Learning Objectives
  • Explain how emotions influence behavior and decision making, with a special emphasis on giving
  • Describe the value for fund development staff in developing greater emotional intelligence in today’s economy
  • Learn how to use emotional intelligence to enhance personal effectiveness and situational awareness for engaging donors
  • Understand how Emotional Intelligence can impact different stages of the sales/fund development cycle
  • Practice applying the ideas of emotional intelligence through individual and group exercises
  • Consider ways to improve emotional intelligence in yourself and others
