This training addresses the best practices around Board Engagement. It will include information on board roles and responsibilities with a special emphasis on board member active involvement in fundraising. In addition, appropriate board and staff relationships will be discussed. The training will also cover building your board to ensure that you have the “right folks” on the bus. Participants will walk away with handouts and will also participate in hands-on and group work around these topics.
 
Learning Objectives-
  • Gain a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards.
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of individual board members and of board service.
  • Understand the fundraising responsibilities of the board and the role of individual board members in fundraising. 
  • Gather strategies and techniques that help board members do as much as possible to help raise money.
  • Understand the roles of the board and staff, and factors that influence their relationships.
  • Gather insights on how to support the development of an effective board-staff partnership.
  • Understand the nine steps to finding, recruiting and engaging nonprofit board members to increase board capacity and effectiveness.
  • Gather ideas for improving the effectiveness and composition of their board.
  • Find new or renewed interest in working to build their board.
