Marine Welding Level 2 - (FastForward)

Description:  Participants will be introduced to and develop competencies in 4F overhead welds; Butt (Groove) welds, SMAW 2G (horizontal), 3G (vertical) and 4G (overhead) welds.

Organization: 
  1. This program is designed to be hands-on, focusing on a candidate's ability to
    • follow verbal and written instruction;
    • display manual dexterity consistent with the welding craft;
    • accomplish specific tasks in a reasonable time; and
    • Perform all activities in a safe manner.
  2. The course is 3 weeks (120 hours) long.  This course includes instructor delivery, physical demonstrations, hands-on practice, time to refine skills and review, practice welds, and final weld sample performed by the trainee in horizontal, vertical, and overhead welding positions. This sample will be retained and evaluated for acceptability using industry standards.
Objectives:  Given welding equipment and tools, the student will be able to weld multiple positions and processes efficiently and safely, accurate setup and minor troubleshooting of equipment, and acquire a basic understanding of carbon arc welds. 



RULES OF CONDUCT
  1. All candidates will be expected to follow the following rules of conduct: Attendance for the full session is expected.
    • No radios, cell phones, or other electronic devices are allowed in the lab area
    • No food or drinks are allowed in the lab area
    • Candidates are expected to be attentive at all times and are encouraged to ask questions.
    • Breaks will be given by the instructor as deemed appropriate. Otherwise, all lab time is to be used to meet the session's objectives.
