Financial Analysis for Your Nonprofit

This fundamental course covers the essentials of understanding non-profit financial reporting and analysis for individuals who lack any background in financial management.  The session will focus on interpreting standard financial reports by reviewing the statements of organizations participating in the class.  The documents include the following statements:
  • Statement of Financial Position
  • Statement of Activities
  • Statement of Functional Expenses
  • Statement of Cash Flows
Participants will learn how financial statements are used for the following:
  • Understanding financial health of an organization
  • Conveying a story to donors
  • Differentiate between cashflow and budget management issues
  • Determining and managing reserves
Key Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the financial statements of a nonprofit organization
  • Gain confidence in reviewing financial statements and how to use them to effectively solicit gifts
  • Learn how reviewing the statements help in making key decisions for the participant’s organization
