AutoCAD Essentials

This course serves as an introduction to the AutoCAD software. It was created for those new to the software and want an instructor-led course with plenty of one-on-one instruction. It is designed to familiarize CAD or computer beginners with hardware and software operating systems, AutoCAD terminology, graphical user interface, drawing, editing, layering, and dimensioning commands.

Learn efficient methods for setting up drawings, prototypes and navigating within the drawing editor. No prior experience is needed. It is helpful if students have a basic understanding of how to use a personal computer and some experience looking at blueprints.

Topics Include:
Understanding the AutoCAD Screen
Creating basic drawings
Modify drawings
Object Selection tools
Working with blocks
Working with drawing layers
Annotating the drawing
Creating hatched areas on a drawing
Create a Parts List or Bill of Materials
Plotting drawings and more
 
Students are requested to bring with them a USB Flash Drive (2GB or larger). Textbook and handouts are provided.
