Leadership and Management Training Series


Based on an educational needs assessment the potential course content includes:

• DAY 1:   Train the Trainer
How Adults Learn – Training Managers will learn what motivates adult learners.  They will also learn how to use their professional experiences to help participants relate to the course material.  The Training Managers will be able to create a training climate that will help all participants learn.  

Classroom Training Techniques – Training Managers will gain increased confidence in their presentation skills.  This includes asking effective questions that will stimulate the participant’s attention to the course materials.  Training Managers will learn how to engage reluctant and resistant participants. Training Managers will practice, review a taped presentation, and critique training presentations during the session.

Hands On Training Techniques – Training Managers will gain increased confidence and skill in one on one On-the-Job Training.  This includes four steps:  Preparation, instruction, performance, and follow up.  By putting the learner at ease, and explaining why he or she is being taught the skill, the Training Managers will learn how to create interest, encourage questions, find out what the learner already knows and build upon that knowledge.  The Training managers will learn techniques to identify when the learner understands and when the learner needs more training or time.  Simulations and practice will help the trainers gain both skills and confidence.

Planning and organizing work for self and others – Training Managers will learn how to plan and organize work for themselves and the team.

Necessary Equipment & Materials:

• Recording equipment for Train the Trainer

• Meeting Room set up for facilitation


• DAY 2:   Leadership Development Training 
Making the transition between individual contributor to supervisor/manager– Training Managers will understand how to navigate the new relationships with former peers and develop a strategy to manage successfully through the transition.  Role-play scenarios will enable the participants to practice the skills and receive feedback to take back to the workplace.

Communication – Training Managers will learn how to communicate directly with transparency to cause successful outcomes and relationships.  Day to day feedback will be practiced.

Performance Management and Coaching – Training Managers will develop the skills needed to manage the performance and hold team members accountable, which, includes setting direction, providing coaching, and feedback when others are successful and when they are in an accountability breakdown.  This section includes day-to-day feedback as well as evaluation feedback.  Coaching and feedback will be practiced through role-play situations.  Participants will receive feedback from peers.
