In this full day workshop, led by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, we will explore Communication Skills for Inclusive Workplaces & Creating a Sense of Belonging. Belonging is a key component of diversity and inclusion initiatives. Having a sense of belonging helps individuals feel socially connected and makes each person better able to reach their full potential. In this session, participants will engage in reflective and interactive exercises that will help them to understand characteristics for creating a sense of belonging. Participants will also explore tangible strategies to build belonging, including policies, programs, and practices. Closely tied to that belonging is effective communication. We'll explore the distinction between dialogue and debate and practice effective communication strategies.
