The purpose of this program is to prepare a trainee to perform solvent, hand tool and power tool cleaning, and apply paint using various brushes and rollers to the safety and quality standards required in a marine environment.

• Surface Preparation – SSPC SP-3 Power Tool Cleaning

Week 2 – Surface Preparation SSPC SP-11 and Brush and Roll Techniques

• Surface Evaluation
• Environmental Conditions and Requirements
• Use of Tools for Quality Paint Application
• Practical Skills Practice: Brush and Roll Painting
• Fundamentals of Coating Inspection
• Practical Skills Testing: Brush and Roll Painting
*  SSPC refers to the standards specifications used by the Marine Coating industry; SSPC stands for the Society of Protective Coatings, an organization that is focused on the protection and preservation of steel and other industrial and marine structures.
